A high school student from the next county over committed suicide in a seemingly shocking eruption from what I can uncover on the matter. And every periodical - every student newspaper and facebook devotee - all faculty, friend, family - everyone seems to agree on two notions:
1. He was a nice boy.
2. Sometimes it’s very tiring being a nice boy.
I think about my students that I work with and I wish there was a way to buy carrier pigeons and tie teeny little notes that say
You are the best and the brightest and I swear it will always get exponentially better.
